Disable the Shutdown Event Tracker.

This tweak is use to disable the Shutdown Event Tracker.

Tweak for : Windows 2003

Description:

The Shutdown Event Tracker was created to give a better impression of why the computer is shutdown/restarted. This tracker forces the user to add a comment about why the shutdown is needed. After that the Event Log will be created with documentation of what changes have been applied to the system, which required a shutdown. This can be useful for the Administrator, but also it can be an annoyance for the home user.

For this, go to Start > Run menu, enter "regedit" and navigate to the registry path listed below. You can create a DWORD value "ShutdownReasonOn", if this value does not exist.

Now, right-click and modify the value to "0" for applying this tweak.

Restart your system for the change to take effect.

Note: By default, the Shutdown Event Tracker is not displayed on Windows XP Professional and is displayed by default on the Windows Server 2003 family and Windows XP Professional workstation.

Apply registry settings according below given steps of screenshots with related changes.

‘Shutdown Event Tracker’ is enabled.

‘Shutdown Event Tracker’ is disabled by default.

First, click the 'Start' button, and select 'Run'. In the resulting dialog box, type "regedit".

Go to [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows NT\], key and create a new key with the name "Reliability" under "Windows NT".

Now, right-click in the open area to create a DWORD Value with the name "ShutdownReasonOn" in "Reliability" key.

Next, right-click on "ShutdownReasonOn" and click on 'Modify'.

Finally, enter the value "0" (Base Hexadecimal) without quotation in the text box and click on 'OK'.Once you are done. Exit from registry. After a restart or logoff, the changes take effect.
