Shutdown your computer without logging into your system

At the logon screen the shutdown button will be displayed with this setting. This enables you to shutdown your computer without logging into your system.

Tweak for : Windows XP, Windows 2003, Windows 2000
At the logon screen the shutdown button will be displayed with this setting. This enables you to shutdown your computer without logging into your system.

If you use this setting, you can shutdown your computer before you log into your system.

For this, go to Start > Run menu, enter “regedit” and navigate to the registry paths listed below. You can create a DWORD value “ShutdownWithoutLogon” and a string value “ShutdownWithoutLogon” for the paths listed below, if these values do not exist.

Now, right-click and modify the value to “1” which can shutdown your computer before you log into your system. However, if you want to get back to the original state, change the value to “0”.

Apply registry settings according below given steps of screenshots with related changes.

Option to ‘Shutdown’ the computer without logging into your system is enabled.

First, click the 'Start' button, and select 'Run'. In the resulting dialog box, type "regedit".

Go to [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\policies\system\], in the open area right-click on "ShutdownWithoutLogon" and click on 'Modify'.

Enter the value "1" (Base Hexadecimal) without quotation in the text box and click on 'OK'.

Go to [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\], in the open area right-click on "ShutdownWithoutLogon" and click on 'Modify'.

Finally, enter the value "1" (Base Hexadecimal) without quotation in the text box and click on 'OK'. Once you are done. After a restart or logoff, the changes take effect.

Enable users to automatically logon to Windows (For 98/ME).
