Turn off the “Synchronize” menu item in Internet Explorer.

This setting turns off the functionality of the menu item “Synchronize”, on the “Tools” menu of Internet Explorer.

Tweak for : Windows 98, Windows Me, Windows XP, Windows 2003, Windows 2000
You use the “Synchronize” menu item in “Tools” menu of Internet Explorer to update your current homepage or favorite web pages to make them available offline too. Synchronization ensures that you have the most current data when working offline. But, this registry setting can restrict synchronization of data by disabling the function.

For this, go to Start > Run, enter “regedit” and navigate to the registry path listed below. If any of the subkeys “Internet Explorer\ Infodelivery\Restrictions” is not present, create it as explained below. Then, create a DWORD value “NoManualUpdates”, if this value does not exist.

Now, right-click and modify the value to “1” which can restrict synchronization function in Internet Explorer. However, if you want to get back to the original state, change the value to “0”.

The changes will take effect after a restart or logoff.

NOTE:
This setting can be applied to Windows Explorer as well.
